Secret Google Tips For Better Search Results

Search for a specific  file type:

This one is most useful while looking for some whitepapers or other research oriented material. Google recognizes 13 main file types through advanced search. Search for any filetype directly using the modifier filetype:[filetype extension].
For example: network security:pdf
This will search for webpage which contains PDFs file related to network security.

Find results within a range of numbers:

Say you are looking for results for a range of numbers such as television sets between 21 and 40 inches. Here you can use the .. Operator. For example, 21..40 television sets. This will search for all television sets ranging from 21 to 40 inches of display.

Add and Ignore certain terms:

By default, Google’s main search uses Boolean constructor AND.
For example searching bread and butter will search for pages related to bread, butter and both. Now, if you need to find only bread and butter you will have to use “bread and butter” (using ”  ”) . But if you need to find either bread or butter then use the keyword OR for example bread OR butter or use bread | butter. Note: AND , OR are case sensitive. Works only in upper case.
If you need Google to ignore/add certain terms, use the –  or  + operator.
For example, if you’re looking for LCD television set and want no results of LED television. Then type the following in the search box.
television sets + LCD –LED
